Joseph Gambaccini's '72 442

My name is Joe and my car is a 1972 Olds 442, or should i say "a Cutlass S with the W-29 option". It has the original 455, which was rebuilt in 1993. It has the Turbo 400 transmission with a 3.23 rear. The car has air conditioning, power steering, power disc brakes and the Hurst dual-gate shifter. This car originally came WITHOUT the roof rail drip moldings, which i've since added (looks much better with them).

Over the past five years, i've put a lot of time (and some money) into this car, including numerous trips to Virginia salvage yards. I've repaired/replaced the power steering pump, steering box and front suspension, including springs, ball joints and centerlink. i've done a lot of interior work: headliner, tic-toc-tac quartz conversion, repaired dual-gate shifter, door jamb switches, and numerous odds-n-ends throughout the car.

After the car was painted (about the only thing i haven't done myself and seeing the results - i wish i did!!!), i added the original W-29 striping. It originally came as light green, but past owners weren't sure what shade of green it was, so i went with white to avoid "overkill" since everything else is green on this car.

I wish it wasn't my only car: I've put 60,000 miles on it in 5 years and just hit 210,000 in February 1998, but the car was made to be driven, so why not drive it???
