Steve O'Malley's '72 Cutlass S
This is my 1972 Cutlass "S". I bought this car about 4 years ago from the
original owner. She was the proverbial little old lady who drove the car to
church on Sunday. When I bought the car it was in pretty good shape but showed
it's age. The front fenders had the usual rust in the lower section behind
the tire and the vinyl top was very ragged. The interior was in very good
shape and but the Am-Fm stereo only received Am reception.
I finally got sick
of listening to the "All news channels" and installed a Sony CD player. The
car was painted a really nasty light green color that didn't do the car
justice, so I had it repainted black. The car was all original owner the hood
and ran smoothly. The air-conditioning didn't work very well so I ended up
removing it because at the time I wanted to make it as easy as possible to
work on the engine.
The only things I did to the engine was to add a
Edelbrock performer intake and a Holley 600 vacuum secondary carburetor. I
also added an H.E.I. distributor. The transmission was fine when I bought it
but it didn't take long until I blew it up doing "Quater Mile Burnouts." (Hey
I was 17 at the time =) I also added a Sport steering Wheel that really looks
nice in the interior. This is my first of hopefully many Oldsmobiles and I
really enjoy the attention this car gets.
