Carolyn Van de Hee's 1972 442 Convertible
I saw this beautiful 1972 Olds Cutlass Supreme 442 Convertible sitting in the back of a car dealership in Sept. 96 and knew I had to have it. Turned out it was the owner's wife's car and had been sitting in a garage for the past seven years.
When I bought it, I became the second owner of a great car in great shape! However, my husband, being an auto mechanic, couldn’t leave well enough alone. So, in the last couple of years he has done a few things to it; new convertible top, new carpet, tic-tac-toc, rally steering wheel, and a bunch of little things. He replaced the original 350 Rocket engine with a 455. Also, changed the rear end to a 3.08 12 bolt posi.
Plans for the future are to replace the original turbo 350 transmission with a turbo 400 and install a complete new 2 1/2 inch exhaust system with the trumpets and the rear bumper that goes with it. I drive this car to work everyday and it turns heads where ever I go.
